That's what I thought.
I guess they're scavengers so it makes sense they'd eat anything, but I'm still surprised to see a gull carefully scooping up seeds! They seem to get stuck in his beak and he has to open and close a lot to dislodge them. After a while I have to scare him away to let the littler birds have their turn, and because a gull can go through a LOT of seed very quickly.

Yes. They are constantly in our bird feeders around our neighborhood and they scare off the other birds. They seem to be quite controlling. Good luck! :)

Michele - I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to deal with them! I had no idea they were feeder pests....
I love this picture. It goes to show that Gulls really just go for it. It is really funny to see.
Herring Gull just been on our bird table and eaten about a pound of left over Christmas pudding - a regular occurence here in Blackpool but they don't usually get pud, just bread and peanuts.
